Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at Spring Trade Show on the weekend. It was definitely a good time and great opportunity to see some old friends and make some new ones.
A big thanks to my friends Sandra and Amy who helped me look after the booth, especially on Saturday as I had to sneak away to shoot the great, intimate wedding of Janice and John.
Some brave souls even stepped into my photobooth on the weekend and have been patiently waiting to see their photos. Here is the link to go to the images.
Enjoy!!

I love photography and I love what I do and getting the opportunity to learn more and challenge myself is what I’m always looking for.
I recently heard about a contest being run by another photographer who is hosting a workshop in Mexico in October. Her name is Christina Craft and she’s from Funkytown Photography in Victoria, B.C. I had signed up for two of her previous workshops here in Canada, but due to time conflicts and personal reasons I wasn’t able to make it to either. I really am looking forward to seeing what I could learn and apply to help make my images even better for all of my clients.
So I’m hoping all of my friends and fans can help me win a spot in this workshop.
ETA:
Vote for my photo to help me win a chance at a $3,000 destination wedding workshop package in Mexico!

It’s a very common misconception that people don’t actually get married in Fort McMurray, but when you’ve got a bride and groom who were born and raised in the community then it’s even more likely they’ll want to celebrate with all of their family and friends. Such was the case with Kim and Kyle, who not only both grew up in Fort McMurray, they were baptized on the same day in the same Catholic church and there was photographic evidence to prove it on the wedding day.
However, it probably is very uncommon to have a wedding party completely made up of people who were all raised in Fort McMurray – all 10 of them. We discovered this when we were taking the wedding party photos by the dinosaur mural, a special request made by the groom. You know you’re local when you actually know that there is a dinosaur mural and where it’s located. (I had a great time exploring “old school” Fort McMurray with Kim & Kyle during their engagement session as well.)
As well, we did some great photos near a school playground which was kind of coincidental because Kim and Kyle’s first date was playing tic-tac-toe on a school playground.
Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day, I definitely had a lot of fun and it was great to spend time with others who have a love for this community that we call home!

Everyone wants to feel beautiful and special, and there’s no better way to do that than with a boudoir session. It’s really a gift that keeps on giving in more ways than one.
If your boyfriend has everything, then a book of great images of you is something that’s very personal. I’ve heard from my clients that it’s also been a great gift to themselves as well because it makes them feel beautiful and see themselves in a way that they never expected. It’s very good for your self esteem.
This is also a great gift for guys to buy for their girl. As a bonus, she’ll probably share the images with you once it’s done. Either way it’s a win-win situation.

Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and sexy, which is what I love to do with my boudoir sessions. And it’s really easy to do when you have someone who’s as fantastic as Abby.
It’s funny because I started by doing a session with one of Abby’s friends for a Valentine’s Day gift and since then have had the opportunity to meet a few of these wonderful ladies. In fact, they like each other so much that at every single session one or two of them have been there to encourage each other and just have some fun.
Abby chose to make a great album for her boyfriend and we were waiting for him to get his gift before sharing some of these beautiful images.

One of the greatest things about Fort McMurray is how community members rally around many worthy causes and one of the best events every year is the CIBC Run for the Cure. While this is only the third year of it officially being a Run for the Cure, the event was originally started in Fort McMurray as a local event known as the Pink Ribbon Run.
A few years ago I was involved on the Pink Ribbon Run committee as the media coordinator and designed one of the logos for the t-shirts. As well, I’ve organized teams and for the last few years have taken photos at the events. It’s always a worthy cause and heartwarming to see people rally around their loved ones who have been affected by this disease. This year hit home for me more than any in past as two ladies I know have been battling against this disease. I hope one day we will see a cure.
While more photos will be posted soon, one of the funnest things is how people get into it and dress up. I thought special attention needed to go to two gentlemen who definitely dressed up for the occasion.

As well, all photos taken during the Photobooth are available here for download. Thank you to Danette Scott for manning the photobooth during the Run for the Cure.

Drop by any time from 1 p.m to 4 p.m.
Come check out some new products and see some of my favourite images from all of my sessions over the past two years.

It’s always special when I get to photograph my friends on their wedding day. I’ve known Kourtney and David for a few years now and became good friends with them in that time. They already have a great little family with the two of them and their 2-year-old daughter Sydnee.
In fact, I knew quite a few of the people in their bridal party and those I didn’t know I liked instantly. They were a care-free bunch who were definitely there to support their friends and have a good time doing it.
One unique thing about Kourtney and David’s wedding is that we did a first look, where they saw each other before the ceremony. While this is a rather new idea for many brides, it’s a great way to share a special moment between the bride and groom. It also allows us to get the bridal party and bride and groom shots in a more relaxed way and allow the bride and groom to enjoy their family and friends.
After a great Catholic ceremony at St. John’s Baptist Church, the reception was one big party at the Sawridge.
Congratulations to both of you and Sydnee!

This was one of the cutest couples I’ve ever met. Khrystle and Rommel are originally from Montreal but moved out here so Khrystle could work as a nurse at the Northern Lights Health Centre.
As it happens we have a mutual friend who recommended that they come tome for engagement pictures. Knowing that they were from the big city I thought it would be great to mix in a little “urban” into our shoot.
Normally I suggest the people bring one or two different outfits to a session or wear jackets that they can take on our off, but I think in this case it was kind of different that they were wearing the same outfit throughout. It shows how just a location change can affect the feel of a session.
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did. In fact, I enjoyed them so much that I made a 10×10 guest signature album sample out of them. I’ll post some of those photos as well.
Thanks for having fun with me guys, it was definitely a lot of fun!

Allison, Thomas and their son Parker were some of my favourite wedding clients last summer. I really got to know this young family at their engagement session and had the wonderful opportunity to fly up to Fort Chipewyan to join in the official celebration of the three of them as a family.
However, anyone who knows Thomas will tell you that he’s kind of shy and reserved. In fact, I’m not sure how he made it through all of the pictures on the wedding day, except for the fact that he was doing it to make Allie happy. So she compromised with Thomas when it came to her maternity photos by making focusing on Parker and his soon-to-be born little brother.
While I love having a connection with all of my clients — opening up to each other allows me to capture their true selves — I always feel blessed when I know that we’ve become more than just photographer and client but actually friends. That’s what has happened with Allie, Thomas and Parker. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your lives and for entrusting me with documenting your family’s joy and love. I look forward to the many celebrations to come.
